Black screen in CAS + families won't load

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Every single one.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? It happens when I try to load a family or open CAS.
What happens when the bug occurs? 1st issue: black CAS screen (see attachment) - When I load CAS the background is black and the sim doesn't show up 2nd issue: can't load families - Whenever I try to load a family, it takes me back to the map selection screen (I believe they're related because they started happening at the same time)
What do you expect to see? A normal CAS screen. My households should load and I should be able to play with them.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

Please describe the patch or change you made. I installed the pets update.

Also, I can't load families, it takes me back to the map selection screen.
I've already tried to disable mods, mess around with graphic settings and I also tried the save files fix. Nothing seems to work.
