I’ve had this same exact problem from steam Sims 4. Whenever I would click play it would pull up the ‘Can’t find path specified’ so I came here to figure out how to fix it and tried all the things given which none worked.
What did work was me erasing a mistake I had made prior, I’ll elaborate. If you right click the game in your steam library and go to properties, the first tab you start out in (General), the text box under Launch Options should be empty (unless you actually know how to use it). I had accidentally typed a stardew valley mod thing into the sims properties and that messed up where stream was trying to find the file.
AKA if something is in that text box, delete it then try again.
