Can't Change Install Location On Windows
I am trying to play boot up the game but it says there is an update required. Trying to update it gives me an error saying I have low disk space. I want to move the install location to my D: drive as it has plenty of space, but I am not given an option to change it. I can change the download location (in settings>download>install location) but for The Sims 4 itself, I cannot change that install location when I go to manage properties for the game. I have tried exiting and opening the app after changing the download location and I have tried doing app recovery, but both has done nothing. Repairing the game does nothing as well as it'll load to a certain point and then stop (I've done this multiple times and it stops in the 60s%). Note that The Sims 4 is already installed onto my computer (originally through Origins) so I cannot simply change the file location before installing the game.
@jalen2k00 The EA App doesn't offer a way to change the install location after the fact. If it's not too much of a burden, the best way to move the game to D would be to uninstall and reinstall. You shouldn't lose any saves or other user data, all of which is stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, but make a backup of this folder anyway.
If your download speeds are too slow to make reinstalling viable, you can try cutting and pasting the game's program files to the location you want to use on D, then telling the EA App to download there. The App may simply verify the files and finalize the install process rather than downloading everything from scratch. But this isn't totally reliable. Also, make sure the install location is inside a folder on D, for example D:\Games\The Sims 4 rather than D:\The Sims 4.
One other option is to move the user folder to D; this can be especially helpful if you keep lots of backup saves or have a large custom content collection. This requires creating a symbolic link, as described here:
Let me know if you have any trouble with the process.
