Solved

Can't load a household in university.

Yesterday my Sim moved to a dorm in Britechester and the game was working just fine. Now when I try to load that save the game just freezes and disappears. No error code, nothing. I deleted all mods, tried repairing but it still won't load. Other save files are working just fine. I'd REALLY like to get this university save to work, my single dad Sim worked hard to raise her so it would be a shame to lose her ☹️ Attached is dxdiag if it helps!

Well, I ended up restoring a previous save game where my Sim still lived at home and not in the dorm. Didn't lose too much progress and the game works perfectly.

After you removed your Mods, did you clear out the cache? Also, do you have CC? Please try the following, and if it doesn't help we can try further troubleshooting:

Please try the following in this exact order without skipping any steps, even though you already deleted the Mods:

    • Exit your game then exit Origin. Please drag the Mods folder from your 'The Sims 4' folder onto your desktop (for future reference) then delete the localthumbnailcache.package file in your 'The Sims 4' folder. Also delete any other folders in the 'Sims 4' folder with word cache in the name. (When you restart the game it will automatically create a new Mods folder.)
    • Next please run a game repair [ Open Origin, click 'Game Library' then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game ]. Make sure to let it run until it has completed all repairs (it will do the base-game first, then run through each of your expansions/packs).

Do not re-add any or your Mods or CC at this time. Please then restart your game and see if the issue is still present.

If this fixes the issue you can re-add your Mods/CC one at a time to see if one was conflicting with the function/causing the glitch - but do not re-add the old config file from the old mods folder, as it is possible for it to have become corrupted also.

  • Thank you for the suggestion, but it did not solve the issue. I cleared the cache, no CC anymore. Is there anything else I could try?
