@erinlive The dxdiag came through fine. It lists a number of errors related to Adaptive Sleep Service, a component of AMD graphics drivers, and one from a McAfee process.
Since your graphics driver is a few years old now, updating it is a good place to start. Try installing the newest driver from AMD:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-series-processors/amd-a8-series-apu-for-laptops/a8-7410-radeon-r5-graphics
You'll want the "Recommended (WHQL)" driver from November 18, not the newer "Optional" one.
HP software sometimes blocks drivers directly from the manufacturers, so if you get an error that you can't install the above driver, you may need to get the newest available one from HP instead. There isn't enough info in your dxdiag for me to find the correct driver download page, but you can find it easily enough. Go here:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops
Enter the serial number for your laptop, select your OS if necessary, and you'll land on the driver download page. If you're not sure which graphics driver to install, please link the page here. It doesn't have any information about your own laptop, just the overall model.
