Can't Modify Body in CAS

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? v. 23
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I'm not sure
What happens when the bug occurs? Basically, when I am creating a brand new sim, it will not let me change the body. Not when I drag different parts of the body, none of the sliders, not when I click on different body types. I can change the face, but not the body. I do have mods, but this bug only showed up when I updated the game. I've tried deleting a bunch of mods, I've tried turning them completely off too. I've done as much as I can think of besides deleting the game entirely and re-downloading it (which would be extremely inconvenient). I've seen other people ask about this too, but I have not been able to find an answer. Please try and figure this out because I cant ☹️
What do you expect to see? I want to be able to change the darn body of my sims
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Updated game - can't modify body in create-a-sim

moving this to tech for troubleshooting

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

  • I'm replying to a post from February but had this problem for the first time today 6/6/20, after downloading the most recent update. In Create a Sim I couldn't change the size of any of the body parts, except the chest on females. I only have base game and no mods. When I go to preset body types(from the menu on the right) there is now only one option for male and one for female. If I slide the size shadows will change (ribs, muscles, none) but the actual shape of the body is stuck in the one preset option now available.

@Umienzeru  Try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, please try the factory reset as described by Crinrict in the post before yours.

Thanks! I had to do two things in the end. I keep my origin games in a different folder then where they automatically download, I guess this confused the game. I put everything back on the desk top, then Repairing finally did the trick. It took forever to finalize and I ended up having to go to bed without checking if it had worked. But I'm good to go now!
