Can't Place Popcorn Machine

I just bought the Movie Hangout Stuff pack and went to place the Sugar Kane Popcorn Popper in my kitchen but it won't snap to the countertop. A red text appears saying "must be placed on specific objects" so I also tried just putting it on an end table, a dining table, the floor, etc. but nothing works. I don't have any CC and my game was just updated today immediately after I purchased/downloaded/installed the movie hangout pack. I tried googling it and found a couple people that had the same issue but no fixes so far that I've come across... Anybody have this issue before?
