Cant select anything or place anything

In live mode i cant click on anything other than the UI. the mouse and camera works, i can pan around just fine but i cant click anything to make the sim do anything, only thing i can click is UI .  Ive checked and my text size is set to medium 125% which was a solution i found in the forums, but its already set at that. In build and buy mode if i try to put anything down, the object im holding is stuck outside the lot bounds in the back corner and i cannot get it to go onto the lot. It is transparent red (presumably b/c its outside the lot and cant be placed) but theres some sort of barrier preventing me from putting it on the lot. ive tried repairing the game, ive tried new saves and old, power cycling my computer, logging out of EA app and then going back in. Graphics cards are updated........  i just reinstalled TS4, so i havnt tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet but that'll be my next step if i cant find anything else to try.

    torimod  Please put the game into windowed mode and see whether that helps.

    If it doesn't, or you want to keep using fullscreen mode, disable any apps you use that come with overlays: Steam, Discord, etc.  Disable the EA App in-game overlay as well, under Settings > Application.

    If that doesn't help either, please open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and move Options.ini to the desktop.  This will reset all your in-game options; you can restore your old Options.ini later if you want and if this doesn't help.  First though, see how the game behaves with all default settings.
