Computer shut off during build mode

Every time I'm in build mode, usually when I'm going through the pre-built rooms in BB mode, my game will just randomly crash my laptop. The screen will go completely black, I hit the power button, and everything comes back up. I can save and exit the game and go into manage worlds, I have no idea what's happening.

My laptop is only a couple weeks old and was working just fine prior to this. I had a mod that I didn't like and I removed it and that's when this started happening.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, repairing the game through the EA app, restarting my computer, removing all saves and mods, removing the entire EA file out of the documents to start a clean run, not downloading anything off the gallery, not adding my mods or saves back in, changing my graphics level, everything I can think of.

I'm at my wits end, I don't know what else to do.

dxdiag attached, I can't really tell what's happening.

  • @beckbb23  Thanks for the dxdiag.  I don't see anything that would obviously cause or explain this particular issue though.  It doesn't sound like your computer is actually shutting off, or Sims 4 is crashing, since you can bring the game back up; either one would delete your progress, and a true shutdown would also close all running apps.

When you play, do you have this laptop plugged in, or are you running off of battery?  Do you ever get any battery-related warnings, or does the screen occasionally dim as if you'd unplugged the charging cable when you hadn't?  The next time this happens, please also put Sims 4 into windowed mode, click the battery icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, and check both the charge level and whether the laptop thinks it's charging.

As a side note, is there a reason you've set your screen to run at a lower resolution?  You can always increase the DPI scaling if icons are too small, and run Sims 4 at a lower res if you want, but with as it stands now, you're missing out on some of the image sharpness and clarity your screen is capable of displaying.
