Constant flashing and lag spikes.

recently redownloaded the sims on my new pc and had this happen. it seems to be non existent when you start the game, and gradually gets worse as you play. the attachment below was around 15 minutes into gameplay.

i tried with cc, without cc, with dlcs, without dlcs, tried changing every single graphics setting multiple times, even tried uninstalling and reinstalling... and nothing. i haven't been able to find a single fix, or a single thing that makes it less flashy or laggy.

I haven't had anything like this happen with any other games ive played, so im really confused on what the cause for this could be.

yes, the videos are LEGIT what i am seeing and experiencing. its horrid.

just tried this, and its still happening. it does seem to have helped with the lag aspect, but the screen is still flashing and glitching constantly.

sproutedpup you could try turning off anti lag in your adrenalin settings the 580 doesn't like it. and it can cause lag and weird things to happen.

  • sproutedpup  Please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of your graphics driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

If that doesn't help, switch from windowed to fullscreen mode, or vice versa, restarting the game before testing in the other mode.

Please also keep all other apps closed while testing.  Don't open anything other than the EA App and Sims 4 once you restart after reinstalling the graphics driver, at least not until you've had a look at the game.

  • sproutedpup  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
