Cosntant crashes sin 9/18 update (DX11 related)

    soraiafilipa  Do you use Reshade or a similar utility?  If so, please try removing it, and repair the game afterwards.  Your dxdiag shows a kind of crash that's somewhat common after the last patch, but I haven't been able to solve it (aside from telling people to try DX9 mode) other than for the one person who had to remove Reshade.

    And I don't think it has anything to do with your computer being incapable of handling Sims 4 in DX11 mode.  Some of the affected players have overpowered hardware.

    If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean boot:

    The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

    When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

    Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

    If this doesn't help either, please repeat the test, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

soraiafilipa  I've seen a number of reports of this type of crash with DirectX 11 mode.  Thanks for providing a dxdiag, which shows the same type of error as well.  I take it you'd like to see whether you can get DX11 mode to work?  If so, I do have a couple of suggestions.

First, right-click your desktop, select the Nvidia Control Panel, then Manage 3D Settings > Global settings, and choose the high-performance Nvidia processor, rather than auto-select.  (If you already have Nvidia selected, let me know, and it's worth switching to auto-select, temporarily, just to see whether it makes a difference.)  Keep in mind if you've specified a Program setting related to Sims 4—TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, TS4_Launcher_x64—that setting would override the global one, so you'd need to remove the program setting or change it to match.

If that doesn't help, please open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, click Browse, find TS4_x64 on the list, and choose the high-performance option.  Repeat for TS4_Launcher_x64.

Please make sure you're only playing with the laptop plugged in and charging.  When it's running on battery, it can go into power saving mode, overriding your settings to use the less-demanding integrated graphics chip.

Hi! Thanks so much for your help. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it work. I went into manage 3D setting anf changed to high-performance. I also changed it on Windows Settings, but my game still crashed. Do you think it's just my computer that can't handle DX11? It's strange, because it's a laptop, but a gaming / high end one that I bought specifically to run the sims smoothly.

Oh and yes, I always play with it plugged in!
