crashing to desktop

so i got a new pc as my old one blue screened on me and fully died. so today i restarted my sims world. in build mode it was fine. was able to play for hours while building. soon as i got on to gameplay my issue started.
i can play for around 20-40 mins fine with no issues at all. then randomly it will freeze for a second then just close to desktop. and that’s it. no sort of error code or anything.
so i’ve tried playing without mods, still crashing. repairing files, still crashing. updating graphics card, still crashing.
at this point i don’t really know what to do. gonna put my pc specs in case its helpful as some stuff online said it can happen when a PC runs to fast but i don’t see mine doing that.

11th gen intel(R) core(TM) i7-11700 @ 2.50GHz, 2496 Mhz, 8 core(s) 16 logical processor.

i read it can be due to overclocking which i don’t really understand. i’m very very stuck and confused as what else i can to resolve the issue. any advice would be great thank you!
