crashing

I've tried to start my Sims 4 game about 10 to 15 times today already. Every single time it crashed, sometimes after the first loading screen, but definitely by the second loading screen at the latest. I've tried a lot of things, but I'm just not making any progress. So, I'll go ahead and share my last crash reports and exceptions here, and I hope someone can help me.

  • Choooiii  Right, you're back to having too little free space on C, I guess because there wasn't enough else to clear from the drive?  Since D is an SSD, you can just move the Sims 4 user folder there instead, or uninstall the game and reinstall it to D, or both.  Uninstalling and reinstalling is simple: uninstall through the EA App, and when you reinstall, choose a folder on D as the location.  (Don't put it directly on D, rather a folder like D:\Games.)

If you want to move the user folder to D, here's how:

Or, since D is an internal drive, you could move the entire Documents directory there:

    Either answer is fine.

I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it on a different SSD. After that, I put my save file, which I'd previously backed up to my desktop, back into the game folder. I started the game, and everything was great.
Then, I closed the game, re-added my mods, and started the game again. But now my save file is gone, and I'm wondering what I did wrong.

  • Choooiii  Do you see your save file, or any other saves, anywhere on your computer?  If not, you can still run a search.  Open a File Explorer window, click This PC in the left panel, and enter Slot_ in the search field in the upper-right corner.  Wait for the scan to finish, which may take a while.  When you're done, if you find any saves, you can move them to the folder the game is currently reading.

If you find saves but the game isn't reading them, please post a screenshot of the folder they're in, as in, I'd like to see their names and sizes.  Include the address bar, above the list of files, in the screenshot.

  • Choooiii  These are all backups of the save with the same number, which is why the game isn't reading them.  You can delete the .verx extention to make each one a usable save, but you'll need to renumber two of them—change the 3 to a 4/5/etc.—so they don't all have the same name.

For reference, the game will only read saves in the format Slot_xxxxxxxx.save , where the Xs stand in for hexidecimal (0 to 9, a to f) digits.  For example, these are all viable save names:

    Slot_00000003.save
    Slot_0000000a.save
    Slot_00000012.save
