@funkytequila Just checking, but did you ever repair the game? It's possible it wasn't installed correctly. Open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair. Please do so while running Origin as an admin and with your antivirus completely disabled.
Otherwise, as a long shot, try disabling Nahimic in the Task Manager's backgrounnd processes list, that is if you have it. Nahimic comes installed on newer Dell laptops (I'm not sure about your generation), and it can prevent the game from loading at all, although there's usually an associated error in the dxdiag. Still, killing Nahimic in the Task Manager takes ten seconds, and if disabling it is a problem, it'll restart when you reboot your computer with no harm done.
If that doesn't help, try generating a crash dump. I'm not sure there would even be one in this situation, but it's worth trying, especially since there isn't a lot of information about why the game isn't loading and you've already tried the usual suggestions.
- Hit the Windows key, type "command prompt" in the box, right-click on Command Prompt in the search results, and select Run as Administrator
- In the window, paste "reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD" without the outside quotes into the box, and enter
- Try to launch Sims 4, and wait a couple minutes
- Hit Windows key-R and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" without quotes into the box, and enter
- Upload the last .dmp file to a free filehosting site and link it here
- When you want to undo the auto crash log dumps, open Command Prompt as before, paste "reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps" /f" without the outside quotes, and enter
While testing, please continue to run both Origin and TS4_x64.exe as an admin, and keep your antivirus disabled, not just with exceptions set for Origin and Sims 4 but not running at all.
Even if you don't get a crash dump, that's still useful information.
Hey @puzzlezaddict
Sorry, no dump, still no game, I have done the repair a fair few times now, mainly with removing the TS4_x64.exe and then running the repair.
Thanks for your help again, I am going to try it on a PC later, I'll post back if anything different happens.
