Okay. I did all the things before the patch yesterday--removed my Mods folder altogether, stored my saves in another folder, etc. When the "fix" went live, I made sure that I took all script mods or things that change the game in any way out. Trying to launch the game with just CAS CC and BB CC gave me this error. I tried repairing the game, restarting EA app, restarted my PC. Deleted localthumbcache. It still did it. So I took the mods out and launched the game--it worked, yay. I decided to try just putting hair, shoes, skin details, presets, skintones, and makeup back into my Mods folder. It worked, I was in the game. Accessed my save. I played a little bit in CAS. Then I wanted to play in Live Mode, which is when I realized that the house I had my sims in was literally ALL build/buy CC and none of it was in my mods folder lol. So, then I was like that's fine. I'll just bulldoze and find a comparable house for these sims. Bulldozed, found a place. When I went to place the house, it said I had packs missing. Like, in a pop up. I was like sure don't. I have every piece of DLC for this game and it is all installed. But, ok fine GAME, I'll check. So I save and log back out. Yep, it's all there, all installed. I try to launch the game again--and this starts again. I changed NOTHING. But I'm still getting the Failed to launch game
An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later. Ok, that's uncool, but fine. I go to open the Mods folder, nothing is in there. I freaked out for a second because I, like a not-smart human, didn't backup the files that I put back into the Mods folder and thought that I lost all of that CC. Don't worry though, I found it all. It's safe. Phew. But, I took all the mods out and it still won't launch lol. I tried all the things, I don't understand. I got the game to load ONCE with no Mods, but now it's just throwing me that error over and over.
