Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Whichever patch was just released, I can't get into my game to find out what version it is
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of the ones currently out except for Modern Menswear and Basement Treasures kits
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to start the game
What happens when the bug occurs? I was trying to start the game after the latest patch and then an error code claimed the game is already running when its clearly not because I just turned on my computer. I even tried to repair the game, and even uninstalled the entire game and spent the whole day reinstalling the game.
What do you expect to see? For the game to load so I can actually play it
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Just the latest patch that came out the other day, and one automatic and probably mandatory update to my computer's system from whatever company does those things.
I was trying to start the game after the latest patch (I installed the patch this morning) and then an error code (the one pictured in the screenshot) claimed the game is already running when it's clearly not because I just turned on my computer. This happened twice today, even after I tried to repair the game and even after I uninstalled the entire game (and all the pack) and spent the whole day reinstalling the game (and I had even restarted my computer just incase my operating system or whatever its called had an update and that that update caused the glitch (it did have an update but even after restarting the entire computer the issue did not resolve)).
(And when I say the whole day to reinstall everything, I mean the whole day. From around 11 AM to around 4 PM because my country as bad Wi-Fi speeds and I couldn't be bothered hotspotting from my phone)
This is the second time this has happened after a patch update for me in the last year (more like 3 months) alone. I think the first (and last time this happened) was just before or after the release of Lovestruck expansion release (and the patches just before or after the release) and I believe it was the same error code then as well. I think last time I had to wait for another patch update to fix the issue. Or maybe it was because I uninstalled and then reinstalled the EA app? Honestly I can't remember which solved the issue last time (either way I'm probably going to uninstall and reinstall the EA app again, cover all my basis after I write this up).
Note 1: I am the only one with my account and the computer I'm using is the only one with my Sims 4 (or any of my EA games) game installed (unless my account has been hacked and someone downloaded it on a another computer without my knowledge in which case it would've been nice to be informed of such a breach in security).
Note 2: I have not had any mods installed since before Lovestrucks release, and I had long since cleared my cache and deleted all my Sims 4 files (after uninstalling the game at the time) because of the same error that I'm complaining about right now popping up. So it can't be mod related because this installation of the game has never had mods.
Note 3: Looking at it now, I'm starting to wonder if it is an EA App issue and not a Sims 4 issue. But even if it is an EA App issue, I figured anyone else who might be having this issue (and found themselves on this forum because, like me, they didn't consider it being an EA App issue at first) would like to know they're not the only ones. And maybe somebody here might know the solution to this irritating problem.
