I'm so upset. My game was working fine during the Life & Death patch update released a few days ago. I wanted to log on today when the pack finally came out to finish the last week of the Reaper's Rewards quest to find out I have an error "Unable to start: The Sims 4 is already running [ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]" even though it isn't running on Task Manager. I have already taken out my mod's folder so I know it's not the mods. I already repaired the game twice, uninstalled and reinstalled both the EA App and The Sims 4, ran CCleaner to make sure there aren't any viruses or malware, I have already moved the Sims 4 Folder to my desktop and I still get the error. And when I try to do an exception for Windows Security, it is not an option on my PC at all. The "Virus and Threat Protection" option is missing from my windows. I am on Windows 10 and I installed it using a USB, since I am a broke college student and cannot afford an actual Windows license. Please help, I need to finish the reapers rewards before the event ends and I would like to also play the new pack. I don't understand why this update completely broke my game when it was literally working fine two days ago.

@tiffy_is_here I've merged your post with the master thread for this error. Please try the other troubleshooting steps in the first post on page one.

I'm experiencing the "Sims 4 is already running" error on my PC. I have removed all mods, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and deleted all previous game data to ensure that the system recognizes this as the very first time the game is being run. I've followed all the steps outlined in the initial post, but I'm still encountering the same issue. I have attached my DxDiag for reference.

"I am encountering an issue where 'Sims 4 is already running' on my PC. I have followed all the steps in the thread titled 'Re: Sims 4 Unable to Start Since the October 31, 2024 Update,' but I am still receiving this error. I understand that this error indicates a problem with connecting to the Sims 4 folder in my Documents. I even completely removed the game to make it feel like a first-time installation, but it's still not working. and I stupidly didn't back up the old folder. I got a sims 4 folder from my husbands game which changed the error message to unable to start initialization error.

None of the solutions in the first post worked. I even tried opening the Sims 4 on a new Windows account and the error I had on that profile was "Unable to start: initialization error at start up. [135dec40:29f00e76:00000084:18a1dd51]" I am also logged out of OneDrive, so I know the syncing is turned off. I don't know what else to do.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled teh sims and I am still having this error, not only that it took the sims 4 folder and merged it with the EA sims 4 folder where the game and bin folders are im confused as to why it dod this

@roxiekittie It sounds like you reinstalled the game to the wrong location. Please make copies of your saves and Tray folders, plus anything else you'd like to preserve. Uninstall the game through the EA App and reinstall it to somewhere that is NOT in Documents. The default C:\Program Files\EA Games is fine, unless you want or need to install it into a new folder, in which case create that new folder.
@tiffy_is_here Did you actually boot into safe mode, which shouldn't be necessary, or did you try something else? Please let me know exactly what you did.
Please also let me know whether a new save is similarly affected.
