Hiya,
I have the issue that my Sims4 game isn't starting. I had gotten a new laptop, downloaded steam, checked the game requirements (they seem ok), downloaded Sims4 via steam and was able to play for about two weeks.
Now, all of a sudden, it's no longer starting. I can click the Play-button in steam, I can click on the shortcut on my desktop or try to run the game as admin through the folder, but nothing works. It simply doesn't open.
Not even the EA app opens for me. Same thing, I can click it, even run it as admin, but it won't open. It also doesn't show up on the task manager, so it's not like it's running in the background.
I have tried every single one of the tips in this thread, but it still doesn't work, unfortunately. I deinstalled and re-installed the game twice, I even de- and re-installed Steam, just in case the problem lies there, but it's not working. On the second windows account, it also doesn't work.
Can anyone help me? I don't understand how the game ran for a weeks without problems and now it's not even opening. I have attached the dxdiag file, in case that helps.
Thanks in advance, guys, any help is appreciated!

@SedhTheHopeful Your dxdiag shows a few generic Windows update errors, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
The Steam Web Helper is also crashing, so try deleting Steam's browser cache and cookies, both under Steam > Settings > Web browser.
If these steps don't help, please try playing in a clean boot:
The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run. Disable the rest as described.
When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to random Lenovo bloatware might still be enabled. If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.
Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.
The above would all apply for any kind of "game doesn't start" issue where someone has tried everything you have, but please let me know whether you're in fact getting the error covered in this thread, or a different one, or no error at all.
