Hello, I keep getting an initialization error message. I recently just downloaded the sims 4 and it will not start. I do not have any mods or cc.
@chariharris2 At the moment, this error is mostly caused by an overly active antivirus. So if you use a third-party program, please set exceptions for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64; or the entire Bin folder they're in. You may need to repair the game as well.
If that doesn't help, please try the suggestions in the first post of this thread about a separate but related error:

None of this helps. I have tried it all. ☹️

@chariharris2 Then uninstall the game and the EA App, as described here:
It's important to use Revo and to reinstall to a different location. If you do use a third-party antivirus, and please check the Windows Security settings if you're not absolutely sure, disable it while reinstalling and the first time you try to launch Sims 4. As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe.

I think I have figured out my issue. previously my game was reading from an external drive D, but I tried switching from an old external drive to a new one and its still trying to read the old external drive. any ideas on how I can fix it to read the new drive E?
