cursor freezing as soon as game is launched

after launching ts4 from the ea app, the game freezes on the blue loading screen, and i can't move my cursor at all. if i swap windows and return, the game loads to the main menu but my cursor is still completely frozen and i'm unable to do anything. the only way i can even close the game is by closing the window from my taskbar, returning to the game, and pressing the "exit game" button using my touchscreen, and swapping windows again, and then it finally shuts down.

i've removed all of my mods, deleted all files with "cache" in the name, uninstalled and reinstalled the sims 4, restarted my laptop, and repaired the game through the ea app several times, and nothing has changed :(

this happened after updating my game, but i also haven't played in a couple months, so it may have started before that.

any help would be appreciated!!
