Damaged /Tray and /saves files

Hi 🙌

  1. I was celebrating 2022 and foolishly deleted files from /Tray and /saves folder.
  2. Then I deleted them from the recycle bin 😃
  3. Realizing my mistake, I began to restore them using the Disk DrillWondershare Recoverit program and some others.
  4. I returned them all. But they don't work anymore. I suppose the program does not understand how to properly restore this type of .trayitem files, etc.

I'm only interested in two files. 1 family and 1 save. The family was able to read the Sims 4 Tray Importer. But the family does not work in the game. However, I suppose that since she can read it, I can somehow recover at least the family file?

Or at least extract the characters I need from it?..

Or get face morphs??? 🤭

Sims 4 Tray Importer shows them all fragmented: file size is smaller, photo preview is black or missing. And all this WITHOUT MODS. When you try to open a gallery with such files, the game just start to freezes forever! And game does not load saves, there is also no photo preview.

The BIG problem is that I have lost the sculptures of actors that I have been working on for a very long time. I needed them for the filming. It's crazy if I have to start from scratch... There's a month of free hard work for nothing...

Thank you for your helping 👿

A family in your library consist of several files that must all be restored. It looks like you were not able to do so. A safer bet would be the save file as that is just one file you need to restore.

  • Whenever you deleted a file you make the disk space used by that file free to be used by other files.

And the way the files are saved by the game makes them hard to recover if one part is damaged.

To work in the game you need at least the .trayitem and .householdbinary.
If the .trayItem is damaged, the .householdbinary should still contain the necessary data to recover it, same for .householdbinary.

You can try asking the developers of both tools for help, maybe one of them can help you.
