Dimmed screen and lines all over my screen, HELP!!

Hi,

I was redownloading the sims after not playing it for a while and I was uninstalling some random things on my laptop to make some more space, when it came to opening the app there’s weird lines all over my screen as early as the loading screen. I have no clue if i’ve uninstalled something that the game needs??

Can someone help please?!

@aariiqna  Please update your laptop's graphics driver, which is from 2018 and is probably the issue here.  This is the newest driver AMD provides for your processor and graphics chip:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-2000-series/amd-ryzen-5-2500u.html

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

  • Can anyone help fix my display?

Disclosure: Last week I went to play the Sims and it asked for an update. I'm on a laptop so storage is tight. The update couldn't download without freeing up space. I used a windows disc clean up command (admittedly one I had never used before) and got rid of some items (unfortunately, I have no idea what they were) and the update downloaded. When I started the game, the screen looked like the attached images. It is very dim, has brighter thin lines going through it.. and when I click a dialog box and then close said box, the outline of the box is ghosted into the screen.

Solutions I've tried: I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall the game at least 3 times. I've also tried deleting ALL of the sims program files from my C drive so that new ones would generate (if I inadvertently deleted something I shouldn't have on the disk cleanup). Nothing is fixing it.

I am no tech/gaming guru, so I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated!

@mysteritrish I found another thread with the same issue, and was offered this solution. In case someone comes across this thread in their search.

@kenny1434  Thanks for the dxdiag, which doesn't list the CPU for some reason (probably just a glitch) but does list the integrated graphics chip and its very old driver.  So I can be reasonably certain that this is the correct updated graphics driver (it's the same for the whole family of processors and iGPUs).
