Don't start up the game

Hi, I'm here to ask for help because I can't get The Sims 4 to open.

Background: It all started when I downloaded the new update to enable auto-save. After updating, neither of the two apps—the EA app nor The Sims 4—would open. I managed to get the EA app to open by uninstalling everything and reinstalling it, but I still can't get the game to open. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, checked everywhere, and felt relieved when they said it was an update error, but when they released the fix today, I downloaded it and it still doesn’t work.

Very recently, I managed to get it to open just once—that was when I cleared the EA app’s cache and restarted my computer—but when I tried it a second time, it didn’t work anymore. I don’t know what else to do to get the game to open—I removed all my mods, but even that didn’t help. When I click “Play” in the EA app, it says “The Sims 4 is already running,” but the game never actually opens. Please help, and don’t judge me for my English—it’s not my first language.

    Hi!  I read in someone else's thread a pinned answer from the sims team, they said they are aware of the problem and that they are working on a patch to fix it. They also stated that since the issue is with the launcher, it shouldn't affect anything else in your game. If you haven't been able to open your game yet, I don't think there's much you can do but wait for the patch :(

    Thank you so much for both answers! En realidad mi idioma materno es español pero quise escribir en inglés para ver si había una solución más efectiva, ¿eso fue después de la nueva actualización que ayer dieron?

    2003018​  The "already running" error has a number of known fixes and workarounds:

    Are you consistently seeing that, or does it only happen after you've tried to open the game once?  Sometimes the error can happen if the game fails to load and then the player tries again without restarting their computer, and in those cases, the error is misleading in that it's not necessarily caused by the usual problems covered in the master thread.  So let me know either way.
