Downloaded CC .package files automatically converted to .pdf files?

Hello,

I've been attempting to download and install cc and mods for the Sims 4 (I know it's not supported), but it always coverts to PDF files. I mostly download from The Sims Resource and Around the Sims website. I've downloaded and installed both from these sites be in the past for Sims 3 and it worked.

Is it converting because I've been using WinZip? Suggestions for another program to change it to to make it work? I have Windows 10 by the way, if that's helpful.

Thanks for your help.

  • @Gam3rGurl11  Can I ask a silly question? Does the files actually have the extension: " .pdf " ('*dot*pdf); or do they just look like pdf's, in their icon?

If the latter, I think it just means that you once chose to Open With.. and then some program for pdf's, maybe Adobe, and now Windows think all of them are pdf files.

But they aren't really, and they will work fine in game, as long as you have not opened them and saved them as such. Then you need to download a new file copy.

If they actually have the extension: (dot)pdf, I will have to understand why that happened before I can help you. 🙂

If you can't see the extension, you can make sure Windows shows them by checking the option File Name Extension in File Explorer>View

I don't actually use CC and mods, so hopefully someone who does will come along. I found a guide though.

It shows the icon of the PDF but the extension is a ".package" file. I copy and pasted it like I'm supposed to but it doesn't show up in the game.

@Gam3rGurl11  If it has the .package extension, then they are not pdf files, and you don't have to worry about the icon.

Did you follow the description in the link I pasted? You could also ask the creator of the CC for help, or wait until someone who uses CC will come along (since I don't).

Here are some good tips for when CC doesn't show up in game:

Probably the file conversion indicates the source of the product code. The same situation was with me when I downloaded mods for Skyrim 5. Perhaps you need to convert these files to a different format to get the desired result. I usually use the service https://pdfliner.com/form_1099_misc in such situations, after the conversion I get the necessary codes and put them in the necessary folders with the game. Usually, the description of the installation is indicated on the site where the mods were downloaded from. Try to read carefully the description of this mod and the progress of its installation, I think we have a similar solution to this problem.
