Downloaded sims onto a flash drive and now it's not working

so a few days ago in order to save space on my computer I decided to get a flash drive and put my sims game and mods/cc on it. I downloaded everything to the flash drive and it seemed to still be working fine. then I ejected it and took it out of my computer, and the next day I put it back in. then when I went to play the sims it said that origin wasn't installed. I tried to put the sims and mods file back onto my desktop, but it still wasn't working, so I deleted the sims folder and the sims game all together. I redownloaded the game and I can open it now, but all of my saved games are gone, and my mods/cc aren't working, even when I tried to download new cc. also, when I redownloaded the game the electronic arts file was empty, but my previous sims and mods file were still there somehow so I moved those to the file and still, nothing worked. I did some other stuff in-between these events that might have messed it up even more but I honestly can't remember because I was just trying anything in hopes that it would work so these were just the major things that I did. I honestly don't care if I can't get my saved games back atp, I just want to be able to play with mods and cc again, please help! I have a HP laptop not a mac if that helps anyone.

@e0ef297wtck0   You have to understand how the designation of USB storage devices work. The first time you insert a USB storage device the Windows operating system assigns a random letter designation to that device so it can be located. If you eject the device or reboot the computer there is a chance that designation may be differen and now the launcher can not find the gamet. What you need to do is assign a persistent drive designation to that device so it has the same letter every time the system mounts that device. Here is a link that will show you how to do that -How to assign a permanent drive designation to a usb storage device. The best way i think to do this is to uninstall the game, assign a drive letter (anything past the letter G (far enough up the alphabet to not interfere with anything else) and reinstall the game. At this point the launcher should consistently find the game even after you eject or reboot the computer. I not sure exactly how this works but a guess is that an visible file is created on the USB device that Windows uses to assign a designation to that device. I might be wrong but care should be take when you delete files in the future.   hth

@e0ef297wtck0  Your saves, mods, custom content, and any other user files all need to be within the Sims 4 user folder the game is reading.  Here's how to find it:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

Once you have that file path, open exactly that location and place your user files inside.  If the game still doesn't read the files, please post screenshots of your saves and mods in their new location so I can take a look.
