DX11 Bug - cannot interact with or place anything
The forum won't let me post this as a reply to the "DirectX 11 Technical Issues and Feedback Thread" and keeps marking it as spam for some reason so I'm posting it here for now.
- Platform: Windows 11
- Which language are you playing the game in?: English
- How often does the bug occur?: 100% of the time while on DirectX 11
- What is your current game version number?: 1.109.185.1030
- What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed?: All EPs except for Lovestruck, all GPs except for Werewolves & Batuu, all SPs except for Crystal Creations, Paranormal, Nifty Knitting, Toddler, and Spooky
- Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?: Enter either live mode or build mode on any save (existing or brand new) with DirectX 11 enabled and attempt to interact with or place anything.
- What happens when the bug occurs?: In live mode, you are not able to interact with anything (nothing happens when clicking, and hovering over sims or objects gives no outline either. In build mode, attempting to place any walls or objects will tell you that you cannot place them outside the boundaries of the lot. Strangely, the only thing I have found that is placeable are floor tiles. By observing the location of the wall tool icon, it seems that the game thinks the cursor is stuck far under the game world (as you can see in the video I have linked). Switching back to DirectX 9 fixes this bug.
- What do you expect to see?: You should be able to freely place objects and walls and interact in live mode.
- Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods?: No

@rjssim wrote:Does your ConfigOverride directory have a modified GraphicsRules.sgr in it? I have a modified GraphicsRules.sgr in mine, and this happens to me when I am using DX11 while I have this modified GraphicsRules.sgr in the ConfigOverride directory. There's a setting in it that just doesn't seem to be compatible with DX11. I brought the setting up before in the DX11 topic. I'll have to find it.
EDIT: Here is my post about the issue and setting that doesn't seem to work with DX11 but does with DX9:

Yes, I do actually! I think it's been so long since I changed it that I forgot it existed. Removing the file fixed the issue for me and for now, I'm okay living without it. Thank you both so much for your help!
