use expansion packs on ea through steam?

i have packs in both ea and steam, i want to be able to use them all.

but, i can’t obviously because they don’t share between platforms.

ive tried downloading the packs on ea but i need to download the base game on ea for this to happen, and if i want the packs on steam, i have to download basegame on steam.

what can i do? is there any way for me to be able to use them on just one platform?

hi, i managed to fix it i think!!!

before trying out what you suggested, i unlinked my steam account from my ea account. then, i opened sims 4 through steam and it got me to link my account again.

i did, then when i went onto EA it was downloading my packs. so all is fixed!

thank you for your help !! ^_^

  • livbanjo  That's not how things are supposed to work.  Where is Sims 4 installed?  This is the default for a Steam install:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4

If your game is in a different location, perhaps the EA App isn't recognizing it.

If that's not the problem, try clearing the EA App's cache:

If that doesn't help, try doing a clean uninstall of the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and reinstalling it.  If that doesn't help either, uninstall both Sims 4 and the EA App with Revo, then reinstall the game through Steam and see whether the EA App will download your packs properly.  Instructions for using Revo are here:

just finished trying/checking all that, still the same result </3

not too sure what’s wrong, i checked where sims 4 is installed and it’s exactly where you said

i cleared cache and nothing happened

i uninstalled  EA app + sims 4 and i still need to download basegame through EA app so i can download my packs, super weird if this is not how it’s supposed to work!

  • livbanjo  Do you have another computer to test with?  You wouldn't need to be able to play on it, just borrow it long enough to install the game.  I'm wondering if this is some kind of account issue that doesn't look like normal account issues (the ones where people can't access their content at all).  If you have the same problem on the other computer, it's likely, although not certainly, an account issue; if you don't see the same problem, the cause is on your main computer.

If you don't have access to another computer you can test with, try the same suggestions, except this time, create a new admin Windows account and reinstall the game using that account.  Additionally, if you use a third-party antivirus, disable it before reinstalling the EA App, and leave it disabled while installing Sims 4 and your packs.

You can test with just the base game through Steam to save time; no need to install all your content for testing purposes.
