EA app deleted itself, how to get Sims back?
Hello! I'm not quite sure how to word this situation, so please bare with me.
Yesterday, I noticed that the EA app on my windows computer was showing a blank icon, so I clicked on it to make sure everything was okay, and it gave me some sort of pop-up that said something along the lines of "This application does not exist." After that, the EA app as a whole disappeared. Out of curiosity, I clicked on The Sims4 app right below it, and it said that the application failed because "Origin has been uninstalled," and that I would need to reinstall Origin for TS4 to work. I figured that on windows, I wouldn't be able to run Origin, plus EA was saying that I already had the platform downloaded. So I downloaded Steam and install TS4 through it. After that, it still would not let me run Sims, even after I'd gone through and deleted the original Sims 4 that I had from June of 2023. It kept saying "Application failed because the user cancelled it," or something along those lines, which is bogus because I didn't tough anything other than the Sims tile.
I tried to download EA again, which kind of (?) worked, because it brought me to the homepage of EA app. It also returned all the files that had previously been deleted when EA deleted itself the first time around (which I believe was January 18th of this year.) I'm only sure EA somehow deleted itself because I wasn't using my laptop until yesterday, when I noticed it was gone.
However, it still won't let me open TS4. It gives me a pop-up through EA that says "Game not installed, go to your library the double-check TS4 is installed properly. If the game is already installed, click on the 3 dots to repair and manage the files." There is no repair option, and the only thing it'll give is a "Manage add-ons," and "View properties," which ends up taking me to an advanced properties window that makes me type in stuff.
I'm just so confused and I've done everything I could think of doing.
@AllisonAria As far as I've seen, the current issue with the EA App does not involve the App uninstalling itself. I'd suggest downloading a fresh copy of the App installer and running it; if you get the option to repair the App, do so.
Once the App is (re)installed properly, if you still can't load it or play Sims 4, try this workaround:
