@Ardruna Did you try restarting your computer after pausing syncing? This error shouldn't ever happen when syncing is paused, but perhaps the system didn't get the memo, so to speak. A restart would address that.
If not, I'd suggest getting rid of OneDrive entirely, at least for now. There are ways to make it work for you, in whatever capacity you prefer, but the first step here is to get Sims 4 running again. Here's how to deal with OneDrive:
Please do run the Command Prompt command when you're done to confirm that the Documents directory is no longer inside OneDrive.
So, good news and bad news. I was able to uninstall OneDrive and move all the files elsewhere. I was able to successfully launch the game, but, of course, it was like a clean install; it had no saves, no mods, nothing. When I tried to put back the main files (saves, mods, screenshots) so I could resume my games, it again stopped launching successfully. I tried again removing the mods folder, and relaunching, but that didn't help--it is once again simply returning me to the app homepage. Now what?

@Ardruna Remove or rename the new Sims 4 folder, then try to launch the game again and see whether it works. If not, please run the Command Prompt command again to confirm that your computer's Documents directory is still in the correct location:
C:\Users\your username\Documents
If Documents is still where it belongs and you can't play even after removing the newer Sims 4 folder, please post a new dxdiag. Please also let me know what antivirus you use.

So, happy news, I was able to get it to work! I was able to isolate the specific file that seemed to be tripping things up (a piece of CC accessories, oddly enough), and now it seems to be running normally again.

How were you able to determine what CC was causing the issue? Haven't been able to play for the last few days and have tried pretty much everything suggested. I'm an not very computer savvy but anything you can share to get my game back working would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. Hoping someone can help. Having all the same issues as others and just cant launch the game. I've done all of the advice here and on every other page on the internet about this issue with no sucess. Moved folders, cleaned caches, verified files, turned off anti-virus, downloaded C++, reinstalled app in the same location as game, etc etc etc...
Interestingly I have the same issue across two different computers - and older i5-8400 with 32gb and a gtx1070 and also an almost fresh out the box ROG Flow X13 with a i9-13900, 16 gb and a RTX 4060. Both do the same thing. Move the folder to the desktop, starts ok as a clean copy, save a new game, exit and restart to end up in the app loop. Even this has started going wrong as often now the app isnt even bothering to open on starting the game.
Any and all help gratefully received

@thedieseldog1 Have you tried playing in a new admin Windows account? If not, please do so now. The account needs to be local, as in, not linked with your Microsoft account.
If that doesn't help, please let me know exactly what you see on-screen when the game fails to launch, including a screenshot of any error you receive. Please also run a dxdiag on whatever computer you'd like to troubleshoot with and attach it to a post.
