EA app won't repair on PC for Sims 4

My landlord sim cannot collect rent with the new For Rent pack so I thought maybe I could do a REPAIR game and see if that would fix it. But the EA app just says repairing. I left it overnight and it still says repairing.  It should have taken 20 minutes to download by my calculations with my internet speed. Why can't I contact someone at EA to help fix this? This is their app.

  • @tkassam  Restart your computer, then without opening the EA App again, uninstall the App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Restart again before reinstalling the App.

If this doesn't help, it'll probably be faster to reinstall Sims 4 instead of trying to fix the repairing issue.  But instead of actually uninstalling, just find the game's install location, here by default:

    C:\Program Files\EA Games

and rename the "The Sims 4" folder.  You can put a - on the end or something; as long as the name is different, the App will think the game isn't installed.  You'll need to close the App and kill the EABackgroundService in the Task Manager in order to rename the folder.  After that, you can try downloading the game.

The reason to rename the folder rather than removing it is in case you run into a download error.  This way, you'll at least still have Sims 4 installed.
