Haven't been able to play my game for about 6 months because I get the same exact error. I've tried literally everything in this thread yet nothing works. I don't wanna accept the fact that I'll have to get a brand new laptop in order to play my game again but it looks like that's what I'm gonna have to do. ☹️

@Simologist That sounds a bit extreme.

Did you do a windows repair or maybe even reinstall Windows first ?
