Error message won't recognize when I remove a file!
So I have (at first glance) a rather common issue. When I try to open my game on my PC it tells me "Cannot start because the bellow file appears to be corrupted. If this file is a Mod please remove it and try again. If not, please repair or reinstall the game via Origin".
This seems to be a fairly common issue with outdated mods/cc and such. I was sad, but fine with removing a few of my mods in order to be able to play. BUT when I tried removing the files they listed, something that seems to be less common prevented normal solutions from working.
This "less common" thing was that it never actually appeared "removed"? The SAME error message just KEPT on popping up... even after I took the listed file from the Mods folder, put it in my recycling bin, and even after I emptied the bin! EACH of these things (I tested each of these seperately) just resulted in the EXACT same file being listed as the "corrupted file".
So please- what can I do so that the computer will actually RECOGNIZE when I remove the faulty file???
(If this is in the wrong thread please tell me- and thanks!)
- @potato_cween You can try moving over one or two of your mods or cc items at a time to the new folder, not in subfolders for now (just to keep things simple), and see whether they work. It's possible that the folders were corrupted, not the files inside, and in that case the files should still be fine. But if you test several files this way and they all read as corrupted, then yes, unfortunately you're probably stuck redownloading them all. - The custom content will appear in your saves as long as the content is present when you load those saves, and as long as you never loaded and saved with the cc missing.
