File Missing Error / Corrupt File / Failed to Create Folder Error

Was working fine in December. Issue only began in January 2025 for me.

Issue:
> Monday boot laptop up.
> Open EA app.
> Login to EA app.
> Clicked to play Sims 4.
> Error Message.  See attachments. Says: "The system cannot find the file specified".
> Press OK.
> EA app reopens with Error Message. See attachments. Says: "Repairs Needed. Some of your files are corrupted, but a simple repair should do the trick."
> Press OK.
> Press Repair on Sims 4.
> Loads to 80% Repaired and Error Message. See attachments. Says: "Failed to create folder. The EA app requires full control permissions to create this folder. Reach out to EA Help for more information.

EA Support Chat was Useless.
Multiple Trouble Shooting Steps tried no solution. Norton Anti Virus even checked my PC and confirmed its an EA Software issue not a PC issue.

>Only option that works is uninstall Sims4.
> Reinstall Sims 4.
> It will work the rest of Monday.
> It will work on Tuesday
> But on booting laptop on Wednesday it will be back to the same issue and loop.

EA basically said someone Technically their end needs to look at it and they will refer it but basically no one will respond and there likely wont be a solution. They advised to search the forum and up vote others posts. But seems the issue is continuing for to affect more than just me.

  • UKkennybrown  These errors are almost always antivirus-related, and it's common for the game to work once after a reinstall, before the AV flags it again.  If you don't want to reinstall yet again, try disabling Norton, temporarily of course, clearing the EA App's cache, and repairing.  Once you've done that, launch the game once with Norton still disabled to confirm it works.

If this does help, reenable Norton, and before launching the game, set exceptions for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64, or the entire Bin folder they're in.  Set an exception for EADesktop.exe as well.
