Food Ending up on Floor

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.76.81.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? City living, cats and dogs, discover university, island living, vampires, eco living
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make food or try to get food from refrigerator
What happens when the bug occurs? When I make food, the food ends up on the floor and when sims grab the food, it drops to the floor. Moving the food to the refrigerator doesn't fix the problem, as the action to get leftovers cancels itself out, and the action to open the fridge and take something out either cancels out, or they grab it and drop the food.
What do you expect to see? Sims should be able to make and eat their food, or take food from the fridge and eat it
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Basically, any time I've had my sims cook a meal for more than one, they'll make the food correctly, but the food glitches and ends up on the floor. Putting the food on a counter or table and directing the sims to take it results in them grabbing the food and that plate ending on the floor,. Moving the food to a table and having the sim sit and eat it somehow cancels out the action. Moving the food to the fridge and directing the sim to get leftovers cancels out the action. Opening the fridge and directing the sim to get the food ends up with the food being dropped on the floor. I've tried this with the breakfast with eggs dish and the turkey dinner grand meal and neither work. I directed my sim to make a single grilled cheese for herself and that worked fine,

I saw this was a bug in 2017 that was fixed, but that was four years ago so I don't really think it applies now?

  • @cbrezina0329 Did you delete the localthumbcache file after removing mods ? Did you just disable them or did you move the mods folder to the desktop ?
  • No I just disabled them from the options menu, but all of my CC are just build/buy or clothes, so I'm not sure if that kind of CC would even mess up food since none of the items I was interacting with were CC if that makes sense.

    HI @cbrezina0329

could you try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Hi @nikiabreu83 , I'm locking this thread to prevent necroposting. Would you mind creating a new thread in the Bug Reports category and we'll take a look? Thanks!
