Game Crashes Each Time I Load a World/Lot

rorythepsychic​  Your dxdiag lists one serious crash of the graphics driver and a pile of Windows update errors, which may be crowding out almost everything else.  So please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Next, update the graphics driver.  You can get the newest version here:

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Choose the Custom (not Express) install method, and check the box to perform a clean install.  Restart afterwards and before trying to play.

If you get another crash, of just the game or your whole computer, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of the most recent crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

"Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

Under the "perfmon /rel" I found an error that said "RAVBg64.exe stopped working" around the time of the last crash (game crashed entire pc) and the technical details are as follows:

I updated my graphics driver beforehand and the game ran for slightly longer before crashing but ended up fully crashing the pc again as I had said.

rorythepsychic​  As you can probably see, this is a crash of the Realtek audio driver.  That doesn't necessarily mean the driver itself is the issue—it could be some other software interacting with it.  So please test by disconnecting all sound devices (headphones, speakers), restarting your computer, and trying again to play.  I realize this isn't how you'd want to play normally, but it's a useful test.

If the game crashes with no sound devices connected, try uninstalling the Realtek driver and reinstalling the newest one available for your motherboard.  Find your exact model board, google "[board model] drivers," and look for a support page from the manufacturer.  Download the newest Realtak audio driver, and take your computer offline.

Click Windows key-X, choose the Device Manager, expand the Audio section, click the Realtek entry, and uninstall.  Check the Sound section too.  You don't need to uninstall any other drivers, at least not yet.  Install the driver you downloaded, restart your computer, go back online, and test the game, still with no other sound devices connected.

I tried all of this and the game crashed without crashing the PC once, then crashed the PC again the second time. 

rorythepsychic​  Are you getting the same error as before, or something else?  Do you have any recent files in C:\Windows\Minidump?  If so, I'd like to see them, but only ones from after you first posted here.  You'll need to copy the files and paste them onto your desktop, rather than dragging and dropping; and you'll need to upload them to a third-party site rather than attaching them to a reply here.

The only file in there is from 8/26/25 so technically no :(

rorythepsychic​  Okay, then what about new Reliability Monitor reports?  Usually a system shutdown produces a crash dump if it's triggered by software, so with nothing in the Minidump folder, I'm not sure there'd be anything relevant from the shutdown in the Reliability Monitor either.  But it's easy to check.

Thank you so much for your help!! I found out the issue... turns out I didn't have enough storage space. I moved my game to a new hard drive with 1TB of space and boom, it runs flawlessly now. I guess I could've checked for that in the first place 😅

So almost a month ago I made a post about how my game crashes my entire PC every time I try to load a world/lot. It was solved by me downloading the game onto a drive that had lots of available storage space, it began running smoothly once again with no issues. Suddenly, out of nowhere, it has begun doing the exact same thing again and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I've tried EVERYTHING aside from buying an entire new PC. I've installed it on different drives, updated and un-updated Windows in different ways, clean user folder, no mods, updated GPU etc. Today I even bought and installed a brand-new SSD and installed it on there, still no luck. If someone could figure out why this is happening you would be seriously saving my life. I'm autistic and Sims is one of my special interests and all I want is to be able to play TS4 again. Your new dxdiag lists a couple of crashes of the graphics driver, and yours is a year old.  So please update it, but don't install the absolute newest version.  Instead, go here:

And download the Game Ready Driver version 577.00.  Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart afterwards and before trying to play.

Part of the reason not to install the newest driver is that you can easily update from an older version to a newer one, but going backwards requires clean-uninstalling the current version.
