Game crashing during live mode

Pretty much what the title says. I'm currently using an Acer Aspire A315-59 laptop with the following specifications:

Processor    12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1235U   1.30 GHz
Installed RAM    8.00 GB (7.71 GB usable)
Device ID    96AA2E83-9041-46B5-A7F3-F0F0C259DEAC
Product ID    00325-87395-98919-AAOEM
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I've tried playing without mods and turning down my graphics.

It crashes at different times every time. Anywhere from 2 minutes to half an hour.

  • Weekbacanbot1  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Please also let me know how much RAM the Task Manager says is in use a few minutes after you restart your computer and without any other apps open.

  • Weekbacanbot1  The immediate issue is that the game's DirectX 9 mode doesn't get along well with your graphics chip.  So please force the game to run in DX11 mode instead.  Open the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -dx11 to the command line box.

Memory management may also be an issue though.  While 8 GB RAM is enough for Sims 4, having the system itself use over 5 GB before you open the game means there isn't a lot left over, especially since the graphics chip will also borrow from RAM.

I would suggest going through the Task Manager's background processes list and disabling anything that doesn't need to start with Windows.  That doesn't mean these apps won't work, only that they won't open on their own.  Examples include Edge and Teams, maybe some Acer registration software, and updaters for other apps where you'd get an update notification the next time you open the app anyway.  Feel free to post a screenshot of the startup list if you want to know exactly what to disable.

Once you've disabled everything you want to, restart your computer again and see how much RAM is in use with nothing else open.  It should be more like 3 GB.
