Game Freezes & then Crashes

Hi!

I've run into an issue recently where my game will freeze & exit to desktop without warning every time that I attempt to play. I have no mods or CC, and it seems to happen during every part of the game (CAS, Build/Buy, Live mode). I have repaired the game, un-installed and reinstalled, and have also tried playing with a new save and nothing changes the outcome.

I have attached the DXDiag. Hoping that someone can give me some adivce.

Thanks!

  • v355  Did you use Display Driver Uninstaller to remove the Nvidia driver?  If not, please do so now.  It's much more thorough than simply uninstalling or updating through the Nvidia tools.  And one of these crashes is another video driver timeout, so it's critical to address this before moving on.

Uninstalled GeForce Experience and installed nvidia app and updated and installed the newest Dec. 3rd driver. (32.0.15.6636)

I also followed these steps  6 Solutions to DISM Error 87 Windows 10/8/7 - MiniTool

And lastly, tried the system file checker to ensure the files aren't corrupted/need repair. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

Verified the game is installed on a ssd (only have the 1 ssd m.2)

Uninstalled signalrgb which was also causing errors in the event log.

Just repaired the game again as well.

Still getting crashes after about 30minutes of play.  Not a full system crash but a freeze of the game and then it closes.

By the way, thank you for all of your help.

  • v355  The LiveKernelEvent 141 (first error) is a timeout of the graphics driver, so the next step here is to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the Nvidia driver.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

You can ignore the AMD graphics driver for the purposes of this process, since it shouldn't be involved in running Sims 4 anymore.

The second error is much more generic, so I'd rather see what happens after you reinstall the graphics driver and play for a bit.

puzzlezaddictthank you! Switched the HDMI over. Was able to play for a bit, stepped away from the computer and came back to a frozen (not crashed) game, it never unfroze. Below is the error message from Reliability Monitor:

  • v355  Your dxdiag does show one problem, which is that you've plugged your monitor directly into the motherboard, rather than into the graphics card.  Please plug it into the GPU; its ports are likely lower down on the back of the case.  The GPU definitely has at least one HDMI port, which is what the monitor is currently using.

If you get another crash, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
