Game is lagging, especially in CAS.

My game has been lagging pretty badly for a few weeks now, and i dont know if it is due to an update or a mod i installed. My mods folder's size is 7GB but i never had a problem with it before, i noticed this happening around a month ago. CAS doesn't function well like it used to, i now have to wait longer for the changes i make to show on my sims. I mainly play this game to create sims in it so this is annoying me, the game has almost gotten unplayable for me because of the long load times. What can i do to fix it? Should i delete some of my mods or could it be an update issue?

    ponxpi​  Please test with your Mods folder removed.  You don't need to save your progress, but it's important to find out whether your mods and cc are contributing to the problem before going down the rabbithole of system troubleshooting.

    If CAS still lags with no mods or cc, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
