Game Keeps Crashing- Help Needed!!!

I recently got the Acer Nitro V Gaming Laptop and I’ve been having issues with my game. I’ll be playing the game and the screen will cut to black and my computer basically freezes. The device is still powered on when it goes black, I just can’t use it and the only way to fix it is by restarting my computer. From what I’ve gathered I think it’s an issue with my graphics hardware. I’ve updated my drivers, I’ve checked to ensure my GPU is functioning properly, I’ve turned down my graphics in-game, and so far nothing has worked. I get the feeling that it’s an issue with my game but it doesn’t seem to be an issue with my custom content/mods. If anyone recognizes this issue or knows how to fix it I’d appreciate any advice!

It's not your graphics card. It's the game. I've literally been having the same issue since this last update. I've tried everything in the book. It's the game. EA has yet to address it.

  • KooKooBear  Please test with no mods or custom content just to confirm that's not the issue.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I forgot to mention that it's been crashing with games other than the Sims. So I'm guessing it's an issue with my device.

Wondering if you would be able to help me as well. I have taken out my whole mod folder, Restarted my PC, Checked my graphics card drivers, Cleared My cache the app still crashes. It opens to the loading screen and the background music plays and then it completely crashes. Never had an issue until the new update.

I don't know why but i remove some of my save files and finally loaded. The sad apart of about that it was the save file I was currently playing. But at least I can play for now until I figure why it doesn't like those save files

I thought it could also be my saves, but then the same thing happened when I was playing a game on Steam. I'd be playing like normal, and then the screen would go black, like it does when it's turning on, and I can't use the cursor or anything like that. I've been saving the game every few minutes to avoid losing progress but it's aggravating having to reload the game so often.

  • KooKooBear  I don't see anything obvious in your dxdiag.  So please open the game and let it crash again, then look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

Ideally, I'd like two or three errors, since one is not always enough of an indicator by itself.

If you still don't see anything, does the laptop get excessively hot when you run any game?  By that I mean hot to the touch, or that the fans run very loud, or both.

KooKooBear  The problem with saves is a Known Issue, and EA_Cade has requested saves here:

You may be able to get your save to work by adding back updated versions of your mods and cc.
