Game keeps Crashing while playing on GTX 4090

I've had not stop crashing since redownloading the game. I have tried all the following troubleshooting steps to no avail:

  1. repair game
  2. update GPU driver
  3. update network controller
  4. disable antivirus
  5. check mods in sims 4
  6. reset sims 4
  7. reinstall sims 4

I'm wondering if it's because I'm running DirectX12. Anyone have any advice?

  • RiverRaide2591  DirectX 12 is backwards-compatible with previous versions, so no, that's not the issue.  Most of the Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag point to the Nvidia graphics driver though, so the place to start is with a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver.  Here's how to do it:

If you get another crash, look for a BIOS update on the support site for your motherboard.  Your dxdiag doesn't list the board, so I can't look myself, but googling the model number should take you to the manufacturer's support site.  If you do find a new BIOS version, follow the instructions to install the driver and see whether it helps.

If that doesn't make a difference, or you don't have an available BIOS update, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
