Game keeps crashing

My game just keeps crashing, for about 2-3 weeks now. Sometimes on start up, and other times when I am 5-10 minutes into playing the game. The screen goes black and it throws me out.

Things I've tried:

  1. Repairing the installation (multiple times)
  2. Clearing the EA app cache
  3. Deleting the Sims 4 folder so it can respawn (two times)
  4. Removing all mods
  5. Adding back one by one
  6. Updating my PC
  7. Restarting my PC

I have no idea what else to do. I've attached the DxDiag file. Please help 😢

  • @LorenB01  Thanks for the dxdiag, which would have been my first request.  The Sims 4 crashes it lists are mostly access violations, too generic of an error to be much use here.  But there is one breakpoint error, plus one error that points to the Nvidia graphics driver, and there's one other serious error relating to that driver, so the place to start is with a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

Once you've installed the new driver and restarted your computer, please test Sims 4 again, with no mods or custom content present.  If you get another crash, please test again with a clean Sims 4 user folder, just to be thorough.

If that doesn't help either, try playing in a clean boot:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

@LorenB01  What kind of crashes are you getting now?  Please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

I'm interested in any errors that happened after you reinstalled the graphics driver.  For each one you find, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If they're totally identical, you don't need to list them all; just say I saw three of these or similar.
