Game Keeps Crashing

My game has never crashed before until the recent update. It normally crashes during a loading screen when exiting CAS or trying to travel to lots, but not every time. I do play with mods, but all of them are updated to their latest version and I did try playing in a new save file with and without mods and it doesn't crash. It seems to only be my one save file (one i've had for years). I've also repaired the game dozens of times and deleted the onlinethumbnailcache and the localthumbcache.package files numerous times. My drivers are all up to date and my game doesn't lag it just crashes. I have BetterExceptions installed but it never gives me a crash report. I've attached my DxDiag file incase it says something in there but if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

  • @DeadRoses0972  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows a type of Sims 4 crash commonly related to ReShade or GShade.  So if you use either of those, please remove it and repair the game (again, if you have already).

I do realize that only one save seems to be affected, but these crashes are almost always due to outside software.  It's possible the new save simply isn't triggering whatever causes the crashes rather than this being a problem with your main save.

If that doesn't help, please remove any Razer apps you've installed.  It might be fine to reinstall them later, but please do test without them present at all.

If that doesn't help either, please try playing in a clean boot:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

You’re telling me it was my ReShade?! I uninstalled my entire game and reinstalled it and having done that I had to reinstall my Reshade and I noticed it needed to update. Now my game is working perfectly fine. Next time I have a problem, I’m checking my ReShade first. Thank you so much!!
