Game not loading when connected to internet

I own every single pack, kit, and log-in reward since they started adding those too, and my game is completely vanilla after I removed the mods I had installed just in case when I wanted a look at the most recent update. However, my game won't even go past the first loading screen unless I'm disconnected from the internet before I even press play on Steam. Sometimes, it crashes if I just let it load onto the title screen without clicking into another app so the game window is in the background as opposed to the foreground. Once I'm on the main menu, I can turn the internet back on just fine, but it will not load properly for me otherwise.

Can EA please fix this issue? I only started using Steam to play the game, despite buying it all through EA Play to this day, because the game wouldn't even boot anymore through EA Play around the time of the Horse Ranch Expansion. It would cost me a fortune, not to mention the ability to mod my game, to transfer to console.

Will turn off those settings next time I play. Didn't realise the Sims Delivery thing would be such a problem. I can turn them on manually after I get into the game, right?

@MysticOrre413  Yes, you can disable SDX updates from within the game.

If that doesn't fix the issue, are you using a wired or wifi connection, and does it help to switch?  What about using your phone as a mobile hotspot, using data rather than your home wifi?  Even if this isn't an option in general, it's a helpful test.

@MysticOrre413  It's not about switching permanently, just testing a different type of connection through the same router.  If some other device has a wired connection, you can borrow that to test, then restore it when you have your answer.

Using your phone as a  mobile hotspot (while on data) is a different kind of test: still wifi, different network entirely, so they can both be helpful for the purposes of gathering information.

I turned off Sims Delivery like you said, then exited the game to test bootup speed. Was almost instant this time, thank you so much for your help! :D

@MysticOrre413  That's great to hear, and also helpful to know that the SDX feature is still a problem for some players.  Thanks for the update.
