Game not working after the new update!!

My game loads fine but after 5 mins of playing, it crashes. For example, the pause button doesn’t work, it’ll stay stuck on the “save” loading screen or I just can’t build anything. It’s been happening since yesterday. Does anyone else have the same problem?

  • D4n33v  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Thank you! Just tried playing in a clean user folder and the game ran fine without any crashes. I'm assuming the crashes might have something to do with my mods.

  • D4n33v  That is a very reasonable possibility.  So please test your mods in the new folder, either in batches or using the 50/50 method:

Once you've done that and removed or updated anything broken, you can transfer your saves and Tray files (saved households and builds) to the new Sims 4 folder, plus Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those.  The rest can be discarded.
