I had The Sims 4 installed via Origin(now EA). It had worked. I bought The Sims and The Sims 2 on Steam, and it automatically installed a second The Sims 4. Wanting to make things easier, I uninstalled The Sims 4 from the EA app, installed from Steam, and linked both accounts when booting the game. Now I keep getting the error in the picture. How do I fix this? Please note, I have removed all Sims 4 folders from the original install location, changed the EA app install location so it would recognize the Steam install, and still get this.
How do I fix this?

locke_stryfe You're the third person I've seen with this issue after buying Sims 1 and 2, although the others didn't already own Sims 4. So I'm trying to gather some info. Please let me know what country you're in. If you use a VPN, try disabling it.
Additionally, try again to launch Sims 4, through Steam, and when it fails, please create an EA App error report, as described here:
https://help.ea.com/en/help/ea/ea-app/run-ea-error-report/
Post the report ID in a reply here, and I'll send it on.

Came across lockes' post, i ended up writing my own forum post however, as you've pointed out i downloaded sims 4 with the purchase of the Legacy Edition.
Never owned Sims 4 before and also running into the same issue.

I have the same problem. I bought Sims legacy edition through Steam. Sims 1 and 2 works well since it doesn't need EA app. It was the first time I downloaded Sims 4. My Steam account is linked to my EA app. I did everything stated on this post. It's still not working. There is always a window "you don't have access" on my EA app. I'm in Canada.

I'm in the US, I've owned The Sims 4 since launch, bought it physical (had the plumbob usb drive, so Limited Edition?). There is no VPN in play, I do use an antivirus, but it's the same one I used when I first installed the game at launch. Not sure how much of this info will help, but here's hoping.
Edit: I just realized the USB drive came with Sims 3, not 4... My bad...- Mindbenderrr6 months agoNew Novice
Alrighty so i found a fix that worked for me!
if you open Sims 4 through the installed folder in steamapps/common/The Sims 4/Game/Bin
Open TS4_x64
This then loaded the game into the EA App and opened it.
Hope this helps you guys

This seems to have worked for me too, although it's only the standard version of the game through Steam, not the Limited edition I was playing previously. The EA app is currently installing all of the add ons I own. Maybe I'll just have to do without?
Also stopping back for everyone else reading this, once you load the game how Mindbenderrr suggested, Steam's button will work as normal. This pic was taken after loading directly from SteamEDIT: I know it's been a long time since I loaded into the game, but now none of my gallery creations are available... Just a heads up, if you are switching from the EA app to Steam, this may happen.

Came across this post and others so this seems to be a wider problem - as above purchased the Sims 25 anniversary bundle with Steam and now when I launch the sims via steam it gives that you don't have access error - tried unisntralling ea app / the game - running the recorvery tool / checked all anti virus / disabled vpn etc from advice found on other historic posts but nothing working ... If install the game only via Ea app it works but then my Steam DLC is not available .... there are posts on the steam discussion threads as well with folk saying they have this issue

locke_stryfe The problem may have been fixed about 12 hours ago, so I'm not sure the workaround was necessary. Still, hopefully all your content is loading now.
For the Gallery issue, if you mean your own creations, they're attached to your account, so unless you switched EA accounts, everything should still be available. If you mean what you downloaded from the Gallery, that's stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Tray, so as long as that folder's contents are intact, your downloads should be too.
In both cases, make sure you've checked the box to see creations with custom content, as even cc-free uploads are sometimes flagged as such.

Same account, same computer, custom content enabled, same everything, none of the households I created before are available to me. None of the save games, none of it.

locke_stryfe Do you see any saves or other user files on your computer? If so, they may simply be in the wrong folder. Here's the correct folder:

If they're not present, please see the first post of this master thread covering disappering content:

Edit: Since the issue covered in this thread was specific and limited, I'll lock it here.
