Gardening bugs post-Seasons update [PC 1.44.77.1020]: can’t hire gardener, etc.
After installing the update that was released with the release of Seasons (note that I did NOT purchase or install Seasons, I just installed the concurrent update: PC 1.44.77.1020) I have experienced several gardening-related bugs. This is relevant because gardening was overhauled in update PC 1.44.77.1020: (quote from the release notes: “We overhauled the Gardening Skill in a big way!”). The changes to gardening include the ability to research plants, sell harvestables directly from the plant, etc. These all work correctly. However, the following bugs have occurred:
- I can now no longer hire a gardener, either one-time or scheduled. Even though I have an extensive garden, I get the message “you must have a garden to hire a gardener” http://prntscr.com/k33ybp
- Some spliced plants are not producing harvestables for all of their spliced components. For example, I grafted Tulip onto Chrysanthemum to create Bird of Paradise. At first it would only harvest out Tulips and Chrysanthemums. Now it will only give me Chrysanthemums. I have NEVER been able to get a single Bird of Paradise off the plant in over a dozen harvest cycles. Very frustrating! (I needed Bird of Paradise to complete my plant collection and get a plaque)
- Some plants will not harvest at all. For example, when my spliced plant failed to produce Bird of Paradise, I gave up and used cheat codes (testingcheats true, then in buildmode bb.showhiddenobjects) to get a Bird of Paradise flower. I then planted it to get a Bird of Paradise plant. HOWEVER, that Bird of Paradise plant will not harvest!! I have NEVER gotten a single flower to harvest off that plant! I have leveled the plant all the way up to Excellent but still never gotten a single harvest off it yet. When I click on it, I just never get “Harvest” as an option.
- When I harvest some plants, their fruits are all “normal” regardless of the level of the plant. For example, in the screenshots below I harvested an Excellent level carrot plant, but all of the carrots in my inventory are Normal. This bug is sporadic: it only happens with some plants and not with others (I am able to harvest excellent-level growfruits and dragonfruits, for example, but only able to harvest normal-level lemons and carrots, etc.).
- Small issue, but when I "water all" not all of the watered planted show the "darkened dirt" animation to visually indicate "watered" status. This is just a display issue. The plants are watered, and do grow properly, and do level up properly. But when my whole garden is "dry" and I "water all" only about half of the plants get "dark" soil, the other half still appear with "dry" soil even though they are watered. http://prntscr.com/k34m30
About my game: I am running Sims 4 on a PC. I have the following installed:
- Expansion Packs: Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Cats & Dogs
- Game Packs: Outdoor Retreat, Dine Out
- Stuff Packs: Romantic Garden
- Free Stuff: Holiday
Attempted fixes so far:
- I have rebooted my computer several times
- I have verified that I have the most recent updates for Windows and my video card
- I updated Origin and installed the subsequent Sims 4 patch [PC 1.44.83.1020] – it did not fix the gardening bugs (and I read the patch notes and it did not address the issue)
Mods: I do NOT have ANY mods installed. PLEASE DO NOT HARASS ME ABOUT MODS! I have never installed a mod. I do not even know HOW to install a mod. I do not even know what a mod is, where to find one, or how to install one. So please don’t hassle me about uninstalling mods, m’k?!!!!! Tnx.
NOTE: Sorry for reposting but the first post was marked as spam (must have been a mistake? – this is not spam, this is a bug report!). I carefully read the instructions about how to post, and I searched first and didn't find any other posts with these bug to click "me too" on, so to the best of my knowledge I believe this is a unique post about this issue.
