My game just updated, so I went to go try out all this new gender-customization stuff, and my buttons (the check mark, the close X, and others) are ether GONE or all I see are the outlines of corners ...

Please check for updates of your mods.
All CAS mods are incompatible with this update (more columns, wrench fixed, etc).
If you don't use any mods, please try repairing the game through Origin.
