Getting rid of paintings in sims 4

Hello, I'm trying to put a door on a wall and can't because there are paintings on the wall. I can't seem to get rid of the painting. The wall disappears. Can someone please tell me how I make the wall visible for me to then click on the painting and delete it so I can put a door there. Haha sounds so simple but I honestly can't get rid of the stupid painting. Thanks in advance.

    click the walls icon at the top right of your screen

    depending how you play it the clicks will rotate between walls completely down . outer walls only up , all walls up
