Gifted Sims 4 Pack Not Downloading

I recently got a new hard drive and have been reinstalling my Sims 4 packs. All have been going fine, except for Snowy Escapes. It was gifted to me, unlike all the others, and won't download no matter what I press. The option to download it is there but it seems to be a broken button. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!!

  • @amberd1024  That's quite odd.  Try doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of Origin.  This is for Windows:

    • Quit Origin, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager.  Scroll through looking for Origin entries.  If you find any, click on them and End Task.
    • Clear Origin's cache.
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Origin from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • When it finishes uninstalling, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
    • Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders."  Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder, if it appears.  (This is where Sims 4 and other Origin games are installed by default.)  Delete the rest.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Next, download the full Origin installer and run it.  Here's the direct download link:

    http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin: right-click on each and select "Run as Administrator."

    For macOS, it's somewhat simpler:

If you do have a Mac, please let me know, since it may matter going forward.  And although I don't think it should have an effect, let me know as well whether you're playing the Legacy Edition of Sims 4.  Origin has always allowed unsupported packs to download into the LE, but I figured it was worth asking anyway.

  • @amberd1024  Try simply loading the game.  Sometimes Origin will automatically download any missing packs; this starts when you get to the Main Menu, so you can alt-tab back to Origin to check.

If you try this a couple times and it doesn't help, clear Origin's cache and try to download the pack again.

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

If that doesn't help, make sure automatic game updates are disabled in Origin: hover over your username, select Application Settings, and under Application, scroll down to Client update to see the option.  Close Origin, clear its cache, open it again, uncheck the box to keep your games and Origin up to date, then enable auto game updates.  Close Origin again and reopen it, and the pack may start to download.

@puzzlezaddict After following your instructions, the pack is finally downloading! Thank you so so so much!!!! I tried contacting EA Help like five times and either they were closed or they ignored my tweets. Who knows. Either way, thanks again! Have a great day!
