If that doesn't help, try playing with your computer offline. You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi before pressing Play.
While troubleshooting in general, it may help to force the game to load in windowed mode—at the very least, you should be able to interact with the Task Manager or reach other buttons on the screen. Open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).
